The Viltrox AF 16mm F1.8 is a highly anticipated large-aperture, ultra-wide-angle prime lens, introduced by Viltrox as their first product after officially joining the L-Mount Alliance. Combining a 16mm ultra-wide angle with a bright F1.8 aperture, it dramatically expands the creative possibilities for creators, from landscape, architecture, and astrophotography to vlogging and video production.
[Outstanding Image Quality and Astrophotography Suitability]
Distortion, chromatic aberration, and peripheral image degradation, which are common challenges with 16mm ultra-wide angles, are thoroughly corrected with a luxurious 15-element, 12-group construction including 4 ED elements and 3 aspherical elements. It excels particularly in reproducing point light sources and suppresses sagittal coma flare, achieving practical and sharp imaging from F1.8 for astrophotography. The front element is flat, allowing direct attachment of versatile 77mm circular filters.
[Innovative Operability and Video Performance]
Equipped with the "LCD Lens Information Panel" characteristic of the Viltrox Pro series, it allows for instant checking of focus distance and aperture value even in dark conditions. The AF, powered by an STM motor + lead screw system, is quiet and fast. The inner focusing mechanism ensures the lens length does not change during focusing, making it excellent for gimbal shooting. It is packed with features that meet the needs of professionals, such as an aperture ring with switchable click/de-click, and a USB-C port (for firmware updates) located on the mount.
