Thypoch Ksana Series First Edition
The Thypoch Ksana Series' first release, the "21mm f/3.5 ASPH.", is a wide-angle lens that combines classic aesthetics with a retro rendering. Its lightweight aluminum alloy barrel makes it easy to carry daily. The retro design beautifully complements Leica cameras. It also features the proprietary multi-coating, "Epoch Coating. '73", which recreates the warm, amber-colored flare and light diffusion seen in Japanese optical lenses from the 1970s, using modern optical technology. While maintaining high levels of basic performance such as light transmission and backlight resistance, the tuning deliberately preserves the character of light, adding a nostalgic and poetic atmosphere to the images. It balances the feel of classic lenses with the stable rendering performance of modern lenses, bringing impressive individuality and creative inspiration to each shot.
Lightweight and compact, with effortless control
Compact in design, the lens weighs only 130g. It is lightweight and easy to handle, making it less burdensome even during long handheld shoots. The total length from the mount surface to the front end is only 27mm, and its small size makes it convenient for storage and carrying. With an understated design, it is easy to manage during shoots and blends naturally into everyday photography. It is especially suitable for shooting scenes that require mobility, such as street snaps, travel, and events.
Unique classic design
The classic barrel design features a retro plum blossom motif on the focusing ring. The crescent-shaped focusing lever improves operability. While maintaining an appearance that harmonizes with a Leica body, the contoured design, which follows the curve of the fingers, achieves a comfortable grip and smooth operation. This allows for stable and precise control, even when quick focusing is required.
Retro Aesthetics with Contemporary Crafts
While retaining the nuances of retro rendering, this lens also achieves excellent resolving power. We pursued high descriptive performance within a compact design, effectively suppressing chromatic aberration and distortion. The optical system consists of 8 elements in 6 groups. It incorporates an aspherical lens, an ED lens, and three high-refractive-index lenses to correct various aberrations and ensure high image quality. Additionally, the 9-blade aperture creates sharp, crisp 18-point sunstars at f/4. This lens balances retro flare expression with high image quality, expanding the range of photographic expression.
